Viruses

Can viruses be spread via instant messaging?
There are many IM (Instant Messaging) viruses that can cause damage to organizational and home users. You should always avoid clicking on any unknown or suspicious links or attachments. It is also recommended to verify with your contacts the authenticity of links or attachments received from them.

All Instant Messaging programs allow you to remove your personal information. It is strongly recommended to do so.
Be wary of anyone asking you for information via IMing, especially if you don’t know who they are.
ICQ staff will never ask you for your password, ask you by email to send information to ICQ or to forward messages to others. If ICQ has an announcement to our users, it will be posted on our main site, www.icq.com.
