The Owner Preferences window gives you options to customize ICQ.
You don't have to configure these preferences in order for most
features to work. However, as you get to know ICQ, you will find that customizing
ICQ can enhance your ease and enjoyment of the program.
- Click Main.
- Select Preferences. The Owner Preferences window be displayed.
- Click one of the topics in the left column of the Owner Preferences window and make
your changes for that topic on the right pane.
You can choose to configure the following options:
- Contact List - enables you to customize the appearance and settings of your Contact List.
- Miscellaneous - enables you to set general settings such as user menu access, multilingual support and opening the ICQ Welcome screen.
- Status Mode - enables you to make availability status settings.
- Connections - enables you to set your firewall settings, proxy settings and ICQ server host.
- History, Alerts & Sounds - enables you to specify parameters for incoming file transfers, ICQ chats, URLs, sound configurations and more.
- Shortcut Bar - allows you to customize your shortcut bar enabling you to access ICQ features and other applications from your ICQ window.
- ICQ Email Import - allows you to have ICQ search for an e-mail address in the address book (or books) of the e-mail program that's installed on your computer
and compare it with the ICQ database (This feature works only with Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora and Netscape Navigator).
- SMS Messages - you can configure your preferences for sending and receiving SMS Messages.
- URL Messages - you can configure your preferences for sending and receiving URLs.
- File Transfer - you can configure your preferences for sending and receiving files.
