Installing and Registering ICQ 4
After you download the ICQ installation program, follow these steps to install and register the ICQ program and service.

1. Shut down other applications that may be running on your computer.
2. Ensure you are connected to the Internet.
3. Double-click the file you saved on your computer to begin the installation process.
4. After installation is completed, follow the Registration Wizard instructions on your screen. Click here for more registration help.
5. Wait for the registration process to finish. ICQ will open on your desktop with a green online status icon.
6. Now, add users to your Contact List to start chatting!

• Missing DLL files
• Fatal Exception errors during installation
• Info number 144
• CRC - Corrupted download file

If you encounter a missing DLL file error, we recommend you download the installation file again. The installation file should contain the necessary DLL files for ICQ.

Fatal Exception errors usually occur if you are running the installation while other applications are running. Please shut down all open applications but leave the Internet connection open. Run the installation again, and continue registration to receive your own ICQ number.

If you encounter a 144 info number error, please try downloading from www.icq.com/download.

If you encounter a corrupted download file error (CRC, not Win32 application), try downloading from www.icq.com/download.

Windows XP users:
Please make sure you have Power Users rights before you begin the installation.
