Customize your ICQ!
This window contains options that allow you to decide how your ICQ program works. As you get to know ICQ, you might find that customizing ICQ's features will enhance your enjoyment of the program. For more information about setting the various Security and Anti-Spam features available with ICQ, refer to the Preferences & Security Center.
To access the Preferences & Security menu: 
- Click the
button.
- Choose Preferences & Security.
- Click one of the Preferences topics in the left column of the Owner Preferences window and select your choices for that topic on the right pane.
Preferences Options
- The Contact List option lets you customize the appearance and settings of your Contact List. For all Contact List settings click here.
- The Send & Receive option enables you to set your incoming and outgoing messages preferences.
- The SMS Messages feature enables you to specify your outgoing SMS options and signature. For details, click here.
- The Status Mode option allows you to set how long it takes before other users know you are away from your computer. For more information about showing and hiding status modes in ICQ, click here.
- The Saving Options feature enables you to configure your History options for incoming and outgoing messages. For more information about saving your message history while using ICQ, click here.
- The Skin/Appearance feature enables you to change the appearance of ICQ. If you wish, you can change the skin, the color scheme, or both! For details click here.
Security Features
- The General option lets you choose if anyone can add you to their Contact List and/or view your online status from the Web, or if they require your authorization.
- The Spam Control options give you choices to help you avoid spam.
- The Password feature allows you to change your password.
- The Ignore List feature allows you to add or remove users to a list that keeps you from seeing messages that they send to you.
- The Invisible List feature allows you to choose which users will not be able to see you online.
- The Visible List feature allows you to choose which users can always see if you are online, even when you are in Invisible mode to all other users.
Other Features
- The Connection Settings button will change your settings back to the ICQ default settings. For more information about how to configure your Connection Settings, click here..
- Pressing the Restore Defaults button will restore the ICQ standard default settings to whichever topic is currently displayed.
