Added Friends? Now start chatting!
Once you've added friends to your Contact List, you can contact them or choose to use one of ICQ 4 other features. To use ICQ to contact a user, right-click your friend's name in your Contact List. This will open the User Menu.

The following options are available:

		Send Message - Send an instant message.
		Send SMS - Send an SMS mobile message to a cellular phone.
		Send File - Send a file to another user.
		Greeting Cards - Make and send creative greetings for every occasion.
		Open Saved Files - Open a saved message history.
		User's Details - View information and details about a user.
		Move to Group - Move a user to another group.
		Rename - Change a user's name on your Contact List.
		Delete - Delete a user's name from your Contact List.

The first time you install ICQ 4, it will automatically display on your Xtraz panel under Launch , as well as on your message window panel, the most popular Xtraz features.

After you start using ICQ 4, the three most recently used multi player Xtraz features will be displayed on the User Menu under Launch , according to each user.

When you set your favorite features as shortcuts on your Xtraz panel, they will display there as well. If you do not create shortcuts, ICQ will display your most recently used features.

Sending SMS & Instant Messages

1. Double-click the user you wish to contact. This will automatically open a Message Session window.
   Note: You can also choose to send a message by selecting Send Message from the User Menu.
2. In the Message Session window, type your message.
3. Use the Send By button to choose the mode or modes (ICQ, SMS or both ) in which you want to send your message by moving the button at the bottom of the box. The default is to send an instant message .
4. Click Send. The text you type automatically moves to the upper part of the Message Session window. If you want to keep a record of your conversation, learn how to save your History here.

When you type your message, you will hear a typing machine sound. If you wish to disable this option, click the icon next to the character count. You also have the option to set the font, font color and background color of your messages. You can also overwrite a user's font changes; all message text then appears in the ICQ default text.

To Send an SMS Message

To send an SMS message , choose the SMS mode or by moving the button at the bottom of the box. The default is to send an instant (ICQ) message. You can also send an SMS message by clicking the icon located on top of the Status icon on your Contact List window.

Sending Files

1. Click the name of the user in your Contact List.
2. Choose Send File. The Send File(s) to window will display. A box will automatically open from which you can browse for the file you wish to send.
   Note: If this box does not appear, or you need to change the file you are sending, click the Select File button.
3. Choose the file, then click Open.
4. Enter a description or explanation of the file you are sending, and click Send.

Note : you can send files directly from your message window by clicking the   file icon from the Xtraz panel.

Send Greeting Cards

1. Click on a user name in your Contact List.
2. Choose Greeting Cards.
   The Xtraz Center will open displaying the Send Online Greeting Card dialog window.
3. Choose a category from the menu and click on the greeting card you wish to send.
4. Write your message then click the Preview Card button. Click the Send button or the Send By Email link.

Note: You can send a greeting card directly from your Xtraz panel. For more information, click here.

Launch

Game Invitation

1. Right click on the user with whom you wish to play.
2. Choose the game you like from the user menu and click on it. The games displayed on the user menu are those you recently played with this user.
3. The message window will open and the game invitation will automatically be sent. Note that your friend must also use ICQ 4 version in order to accept the invitation.
4. If the game you wish to play is not on the user menu, you can find it in the Xtraz Center.

Note : you can also send an invitation from the pane on the “super message” window or from the Xtraz panel attached to your Contact List.

User

Opening Saved Files

1. Click a user's in your Contact List.
2. Choose Open Saved Files. The Open dialog will display, showing message history folders that are sorted by name. Browse for the message file you would like to open.
   
3. Choose the message history file you would like to view, then click Open.

1. Click the name of the user in your Contact List.
2. Choose User's Details. The User Details window will display.
3. Click Get details from the ICQ directory at the bottom of the User Details window to view the most recent information the user has added to the ICQ Global Directory.
4. View the different tabs on the left of the window to learn more about the user.
   Note: You may add your own information and comments about the user in the About Tab. This will appear as blue text in the Remarks section of the user's Info Summary. Information you enter in this section will be visible only to you.

1. To move a user to a new group, click the name of the user in your Contact List.
2. Choose Move to Group. You'll see a selection of available groups.
3. Click one of the groups to move the user into that category.

1. Click the user you wish to rename.
2. Select Rename.
   The user name will be highlighted.
3. Type the new name you wish to appear on your Contact list for this user.
4. Press Enter. The name you chose will replace the old name on your Contact List.

1. Click the name of the user you wish to delete from your Contact List.
2. Select Delete. A confirmation window will display.
3. Click Yes to delete a user or No to cancel the deletion. You can also delete the history of all messages for this user.

ICQ is set to alert you when someone on your contact list has a birthday. When the day comes, you will receive an alert as a flashing cake icon next to the user's name on your contact list.
When you click on it, the "super message" window will open displaying a special birthday background and offering you the option to send him/her a greeting card.



Note: You can also send him/her a greeting card through the user menu by right clicking on this user's name and choosing Send Greeting Card.

Notify of Your Upcoming Birthday

Once you enter your birthday date, anyone who seeks information about you will see it. Anyone who has you on their contact list will be reminded a day in advance.

Super Message / Message with Xtraz

The ICQ offers you a variety of features that are now available directly from the ICQ “super message”:

• Send message - Send an instant message.
• Send SMS - Send an SMS mobile message to a cellular phone.
• Send file - Send a file to another user.
• Send URL – Share your favorite Web sites with other ICQ users.
• Send Greeting Card - The ICQ Greeting Card feature enables you to make and send creative greetings for every occasion.
• Send Game invitation – Invite a friend to play a game with you.
• Upload images - Display your own photo in the message window or choose a devil from the gallery.
• Enter the Xtraz Center – Click the Xtraz icon on the top left and enter the Xtraz Center.

On the right hand of the image displayed in the message window, there are two icons for each user:

For Myself: View/Change My Details and Upload, edit or change my image .

For the other user: A link to the user's details , A link to the user's unified messaging center
