My ICQ Menu |
When you click on the My ICQ button, a menu is displayed providing you with useful tools and options:
- Change User on this Computer - Enables you to change the active ICQ# on the computer, add another registered user, or remove an ICQ# from the computer.
- Registration to ICQ - Enables you to register a new user or un register an existing user from ICQ.
- View / Change My Details - Enables you to update or change the personal details provided for your ICQ#.
- Send My Four ICQ Addresses - Notify your friends how they can reach you.
- Shortcut Bar (ICQ Quick) - A convenient and easy way
to access ICQ functions. ICQ comes with a default shortcut bar on
the right side of your ICQ Window. You may also add more shortcuts.
- Reminder - Set ICQ to remind you of things you need to do.

- Notes - Create your own memos to put on your desktop.
- ToDo - Create a list of things you need to do during your online sessions.
- Message Archive - Download the ICQ Message Archive to store all incoming and outgoing events.
- Events History - The ultimate storage for your files, bookmarks and system messages.

Reminder
The Reminder feature allows you to write yourself reminders and preset the date and time you would like to receive them. A flashing Alarm clock icon will appear on your System Notice button and in you desktop tray, accompanied by an alarm sound, reminding you of that important errand you musn't forget.
To set your reminder:
- Click on the My ICQ button and select Reminder.
- Select New Reminder.
- Choose from one of the following options:
- Trigger On Time & Date
Click the arrow next to the Date field to display a calendar and select a date you wish to receive the reminder or select Today
Click the arrow next to the Time field to select the hour you wish from the drop-down menu.
- Trigger When User is Online -
if you want to be reminded when a specific user on your Contact List comes online.
Click on the empty field or the arrow button next to it to show the list of users on your Contact List.
Select a user from the list.
Note: If the user you chose is already online but in Away or N/A mode, you can mark the line Trigger reminder also when moving out from Away or N/A.
Once you determine when to trigger the reminder, you can choose any of the following options:
- In the Reminder Note field, enter your personal reminder note.
You may also select a preset reminder by clicking on the Select Preset Reminder Note button.
- Click the Add To Reminder button.
If you decide you do not want the reminder to show, click Cancel.
When you get the reminder, double-click on the blinking icon to display the reminder.
Click the Dismiss button to close the reminder and delete it from the ICQ Message Archive.
If you want the reminder to show again after a period of time, click the arrow next to the 5 Minutes field and select the amount of time you want before the reminder will show again. Then click the Remind Again in button. This will once again save the reminder into your ICQ Message Archive.
To view the reminders that have not yet been sent:
Click on the Services button, select Reminder and choose from these options:
- View Reminder - choose which of the reminder notes (if more than one shows) to see.
- Open Reminders List to view the list of reminders yet to be sent in the ICQ Message Archive.
Notes
This feature allows you to write yourself notes and leave them on your desktop. In addition, the ICQ Message Archive gives you the option to create notes from existing events and send them to other user (Download the ICQ Message Archive from the Download page).
To create a new note:
Click the My ICQ button and select Notes. From the menu select New Note. A new note will be displayed on your desktop. You can adjust the size of the note by clicking the note's frame and dragging it to your desired size.
Write whatever you want in the note area, as shown here:
Click the X on the top right corner of the note or right click anywhere on the note to display the following pop up menu:
- Select Hide or use the keyboard short keys <CTRL>+H to hide the note and save it into the ICQ Message Archive.
- Check Always On Top to make your note always visible on top of any other window.
- Select New to create a new note.
- Select Delete Note to move the note into the Deleted Items folder in the ICQ Message Archive.
- Select Text to open another menu. Select Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete or Select All according to your needs.
- Select Appearance to open the note's appearance properties. Here you can set as follows:
- Set Font to change the font style, size and color
- Font Color to change the color to your desire
- Set BackGround Color to change the note's background color
- Select Print As Text to display the Print dialog and print your note
- Select File to Import or Export your note:
- Import to transfer the text of a file from another directory into your note
- Export to transfer the text of your note into another file or directory.
- Select Add Reminder to create a reminder for the note. See above for more information about the ICQ Reminder feature.
- Select Send to Someone to send the note's content to a user on your Contact List. Select the user on the Right side of the dialog and click Send.
- Select Snap to Content to fit the note's size to the content of the note.
- Bring All To Top will place all the notes you have created in front of any other application or window you are working on.
ToDo
The ToDo feature gives you the option to mark events as important or things that you should deal with, or create a ToDo from an existing event in the ICQ Message Archive. The ToDo icon will appear next the ICQ flower on your desktop tray, serving as a convenient reminder for you. To Create a ToDo simply select ToDo from the My ICQ menu, and chose New. From this point on, follow the ICQ Reminder instructions.
