Installation Troubleshooting
Veteran users: Make sure you back up your Contact List before you begin.
First time installers:
To install ICQ, locate the installation file (icq2000a.exe) on your hard disk and double click on it.
Windows NT Users: Please make sure you have administrative rights before you begin the installation.
Follow the installation wizard to select a folder for ICQ (default settings recommended), and continue. You may need to shut down your computer and restart it when the installation process is complete.
Common problems
- Missing DLL files
- Fatal Exception errors during installation
If you encounter a missing DLL file error, we recommend you download again. The full installation file contains all the necessary DLL files for ICQ.
Fatal Exception errors usually occur if you are running the installation while other applications are running. Please shut down all open applications but leave the Internet connection open. Run the installation again, and continue to register your copy to receive your own ICQ number.
