The Contact List: Find, Add, Invite Friends & Manage Your List The Contact List is your list of contacts and friends with whom you can exchange messages, URLs, files, voice chat and others. Before you begin using all these fun options and more, you first need to add friends to your Contact List. Access Your Contact List from Anywhere From the release of ICQ 2001b, the Contact List has been saved on the ICQ servers. If you already have ICQ on your computer, your Contact List will be uploaded to the server automatically when you download the latest ICQ version.
You can access your Contact List from any computer or wireless device, anywhere in the world.
Manage your Contact List Activating The Topics bar (available by clicking the Services button, the ICQ Topics Directory Bar option, then Show) on the left side of your ICQ Window is a quick method to get your music, movies, sports, games, tech and world news, while meeting ICQ friends who share your interests. The ICQuick Shortcut bar (available by clicking My ICQ, the Shortcut Bar (ICQ Quick) option, then Show) is an easy way to access ICQ functions. ICQ comes with this bar as a default on the right side of your ICQ window. If you want to make it even more convenient, you can rearrange or add more shortcuts. Adding and Finding Users There are two main methods available for finding users:
Click Once ICQ is up and running, you can add friends and other ICQ users to your Contact List. You can search for ICQ users by:
![]() Finding Users Click This option allows you to search for specific ICQ users using a wider range of criteria than Adding Users or find a group of people that have similar interests. Some of the fields you can search by are names, email, location, gender, language, company interests and keywords. For example, you could search for males in Brazil between the ages of 40-49 who like martial arts and speak English. You can also ensure the results only contain online users. Following-up an Authorization Request When you attempt to add a user to your Contact List, you sometimes require the user's authorization. If an authorization request has not yet been accepted or rejected, you can use the Request for Authorization Follow Up Service. This allows you to check on authorization requests you sent to other users you want to add to your Contact List. You can set ICQ to automatically re-send authorization requests and to send such users an email requesting their authorization. To check a user's authorization status:
