Most Common Registering Issues
In order to register, you must be able to establish a connection between your computer
and our server. The five most frequent reasons for not being able to register are:
- Older Version of ICQ. Make sure you download the latest version
- No open communication link. You currently do not have an open communication link between your computer and our server.
- Our system is under maintenance. You are connecting on one of those rare occasion that our database or servers are under
maintenance.
- You are behind a firewall. You are in an organization and work behind a
firewall that should be configured to work with ICQ.
If you still cannot register, make sure you are connected to the internet by checking the Networks Status page at http://web.icq.com/status.html, and refresh the page. By going to this address and refreshing the page, you will know if you have an open link to the internet, and see whether our servers are currently under maintenance. Check this page periodically to find out if the servers are operational again, and try to register once more.
Starting the Registration
When ICQ is installed successfully, the registration process will begin automatically.
If for any reason the registration does not begin, you can start the registration
process manually by running ICQ:
- Click on the Start Button in the Task Bar.
- Select ICQ.
ICQ will now start running the Registration Wizard.
Select your connection type and continue, following the on screen wizard.
