ICQ Pro Tour - Simple Mode: Adding Users

The Contact List

The Contact List is the list of ICQ users with whom you want to be in contact. The list first includes the contacts that are online, and then those that are offline.

You can identify the status of each contact by the icon next to the contact's nickname.

Adding and Finding Users

There are two main methods available for finding users:

Adding Users - Find a specific user when you have some existing information user such as email address, name or ICQ number.

Finding Users - Use the ICQ Meet People to find users according to a wider range of criteria than Add Users such as interest, hobbies, country or occupation.

Adding Users

Once ICQ is up and running, you can add friends, associates and other ICQ users to your Contact List.

Click launch the Add/Invite Users window.

You can search for ICQ users by:
- ICQ number - If you know the user's ICQ number, use this field to conduct the search. You can enter the ICQ number using spaces. For example, 123 456 789.
- Nickname, First or Last name - Search for users according to these parameters.
- Email - Search for an ICQ user by an Email address.

Click the relevant Search button alongside the information you have entered. In this window you can only search by one row at a time.

In the bottom section of the window you can find a random chat partner or invite a friend to join ICQ.

Finding Users

You can search for specific ICQ users using more criteria than Adding Users or find a group of people that have similar interests. Some of the fields you can search by are names, email, location, gender, language, company interests and keywords. For example, you could search for males in Brazil between the ages of 40-49 who like martial arts and speak English.

You can also ensure the results only contain online users.
