Connection

To change ICQ's connection settings, go to "Menu" — "Settings" and select the "Connection" tab.

If you are connected to the Internet through a local network, you will need to configure ICQ to connect through a proxy server.

Begin by indicating the type of your proxy server: SOCKS 4, SOCKS 5, HTTP-proxy or HTTPS. Then in the "Server" field enter the IP-address of your proxy server. In the "Port" field enter the number of the port to be used.

If your proxy server requires authentication, then check the appropriate field and enter your credentials: your username and password.

If your browser is already configured to work with a proxy server, check "Allow automatic detection of connection parameters" to let ICQ automatically set the required settings.

If you need to specify other settings manually, then uncheck this.
