Visibility settings

Sometimes you may want to use ICQ to talk to a couple of your contacts without others knowing that you're online; or you may want certain contacts to never know you are online. The solution is simple — create different visibility lists.

To create a list, go to "Menu" — "How my contacts see me...".

People I ignore

If there is a user from whom you no longer wish to receive messages, no longer wish to see in your contact list, and to whom you want to always be invisible, you need to add him or her to the "People I ignore" list. To do this, right-click on the contact's name and select "People I ignore" from the menu that appears.

If you decide to stop ignoring a contact, then on the popup window on the "People I ignore" tab put a check next to that contact and click "Remove from list".

Keep in mind that the users you put into your ignore list will not longer be displayed in your contact list.

"Always invisible to..." and "Always visible to..."

Contacts you put into your invisible list will always see your status as "Offline", but you'll be able to receive messages from them. Contacts that you add to your visible list will know if you are online even if you specify your status

In order to add a user to your invisible list, right-click his or her name and in the menu that appears select "How I am seen..." — "Always sees my status…" or "Never sees my status".

To remove a contact from a list, put a check next to him or her and click "Remove from list" or right-click on the contact and in the menu that appears select "How I am seen..." and uncheck the appropriate item.

The names of users who have been added to your invisible list have a line through them in your contact list: , and the names of those in your visible list are shown in italics:  .
